Welcome to CBC Home Fellowships
WHAT ARE HOME FELLOWSHIPS?
Home Fellowships are groups of about 8-12 CBC members or regular attendees, meeting bi-weekly in a host home for fellowship, mutual encouragement, prayer and praise, and a discussion time focused on applying God’s word to their daily lives. Groups typically meet for about 1.5 hours, followed by an informal refreshment or meal time. Meeting times are designed to foster meaningful Christian friendships—friendships that go beyond the “hi, how are ya” to relationships that inspire godly maturity and the pursuit of Christian service through the identification and use of our spiritual gifts. Home Fellowships aren’t Bible studies; they’re a “team huddle” for setting personal spiritual goals and helping each other achieve them; they’re “family” meetings that help us to recognize and meet one another’s physical and spiritual needs.
WHY HOME FELLOWSHIPS?
The Bible teaches us that spiritual growth is a community project. The Christian life is not meant to be lived in solitude. We find throughout the New Testament instructions to believers to “love one another,” to “be devoted to one another,” to “accept,” “encourage,” “forgive” and “serve” one another. The local assembly of believers is a divinely ordained context for building Christ’s body, the Church, not just in numbers, but in maturity and devotion to God and one another. Ephesians 4:16 tells us that “From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” We have been empowered and gifted by God to work together in His service and to show His grace to the world in how we are devoted in love to each other, the local body of believers.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
MEMBERS - Home Fellowships are expressly designed to be a primary means by which members may fulfill their commitment to local church membership at CBC. They are vital to our church’s plan for building and sustaining a healthy Christian community. We ask that each member seriously consider joining a Home Fellowship in their neighborhood.
REGULAR ATTENDERS - If you have not yet made a commitment to membership at CBC, but are a regular attendee considering membership, you are welcomed and encouraged to be a part of this ministry.
YOUNG ADULTS - A Sr. High/College-age group is also available.
